This who used to play Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 know that music has an important role to play in extreme sports. That attitude is in motion for next year's Winter X Games, where a slew of big name acts have been added as headlining performers for the event. Thus far Snoop Dogg, Skrillex, Wiz Khalifa and Chromeo have been added as musical guests for the event, according to Dancing Astronaut

This year's X Games will take place in Aspen, CO, with one concert happening January 23 in the evening, one on Sunday afternoon and two during the day on the Saturday in between. Tickets cost $150 for a four-day pass, but that ain't bad if you're considering going to the athletic side of the show during the day as well (as it's free). No schedule for the musical events has been given yet.

X Games vice president Tim Reed feels what we're saying with the Tony Hawk comparison.

"The goal is to help create more of a festival atmosphere around the sports," he said. "I think it's also really exciting to be able to pop over and take in some great live music during the breaks. It creates a really good vibe on the mountain, especially with a great mix of talent like we have here between Snoop and Wiz, Skrillex and Chromeo."

Just as long as they've taken every possible scenario into consideration. We stood in the photo pit at the Skrillex show at Governors Ball this summer and based on the physical discomfort that his sub-bass created in our chest cavities, we'd argue that the DJ could potentially create an avalanche on Buttermilk Mountain.
