We read a headline from HipHopDx reporting that a DJ had come straight with rapper Logic during his interview, telling the emcee that recent release Under Pressure was "overrated." We were intrigued, ourselves finding the record a little "whatever" (another quote used by the DJ in question, Vick One of Power 106 in Los Angeles). Then we heard the basis for Vick's thoughts and had to laugh.

The interview hadn't started yet but cameras were on while the DJ spoke with Logic beforehand.

"Your album was out, and everybody's giving it critical acclaim...I just wanted to be honest though," he said. "My opinion: It was kind of 'whatever.'...This is me just like OG hip-hop fan: a little bit overrated bro, a little bit like you're sounding like a bunch of other people."

Okay, fair enough. That's his opinion. So what should Logic do to separate himself more from the "bunch of other people" he sounds like? Vick tells him to stop focusing on "struggle s--t" and rap more about sex and drugs.

Logic checks his brain to see if it's April Fool's and then responds "are you serious?" Vick is. Unfortunately T.I. and Jeezy, two rappers who have recently given responses to the situation in Ferguson have yet to air out their thoughts on Vick One's opinion of "struggle s--t." Nor has Kanye West, who has pissed off many an "OG" via dressing differently and commenting on racial issues in songs like "New Slaves." Logic certainly isn't commenting on anything as deep as racial prejudice in his songs, but tracks like "Nikki," which may be about his battles with smoking cigarettes, are at least original concepts.

Oh, and both of his parents struggled with crack addiction and alcoholism. Maybe that's why he doesn't sing about drugs. Thanks to Vick One, we're going to revisit Under Pressure. Even if we still don't love it, we'll at least swing back to his side.
