According to Billboard, Latin acts Band El Recodo de Cruz Lizarraga and Joan Sebastian will be honored with special awards at the 2013 Billboard Mexican Music Awards.
The "Musical Legacy Award" will be awarded to Band El Recodo to recognize their influential career in music. Sebastian will receive the "Voice Award," which recognizes an artist or musical group that has "a distinctive and unique on and off stage persona."
The 2013 Billboard Mexican Music Awards will also present awards for album of the year, song of the year, new artist of the year, digital download artist of the year, airplay artist of the year within the categories for the genres banda, norteña, ranchero/mariachi and duranguense/grupero/cumbia.
The awards show will be broadcast live via Telemundo from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood at 7 p.m. on Oct. 9.
