2014 has been a huge year for Lana Del Rey, appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone and scoring her first No. 1 album, and next month she will be capping off her stellar year with the premiere of Tim Burton's latest film Big Eyes, which features two new songs from the Ultraviolence singer.

"Tim showed her the film and she fell in love with it," screenwriter and producer Larry Karaszewski told The Hollywood Reporter. "Women in particular seem to get the movie, and Lana really got the movie."

Big Eyes tells the true story of American painter Margaret Keane (Amy Adams) whose work was credited to her husband Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz) during the 1950s and '60s. Del Rey contributed two songs to the film: "Big Eyes" and "I Can Fly," both of which are written from the perspective of Margaret Keane.

"The whole thing is about a woman who can't find her voice," Karaszewski says about the film. "Lana's song expressed what Margaret is feeling so perfectly it's like a soliloquy of her inner thoughts."

Though the film's title song, which Del Rey co-wrote with Daniel Heath, was intended to be used over the end credits, Burton realized that it fit much better in a critical scene about halfway through the film, which originally featured music by the film's composer and frequent Burton collaborator Danny Elfman.

"I Can Fly," which Del Rey co-wrote with Rick Nowels, ultimately scores the film's end credits.

Big Eyes is not the first film Del Rey has contributed music to. Her song "Young and Beautiful" — which pretty much has the ultimate Lana Del Rey song title — appeared in Baz Luhrmann's 2013 adaptation of The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Burton's Big Eyes is set for release Dec. 25.
