There was a decent amount of arguing between Daft Punk fans and Robin Thicke fans about what was the unofficial "Song of The Summer:" Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" or Thicke's "Blurred Lines." Sales aren't technically an indicator of what song is actually better, but "Lines" has finally passed "Get Lucky" as the best-selling single of 2013 (in the U.K.).

According to the Official Charts company across the pond, Thicke (along with collaborators Pharrell Williams and T.I.) has sold 1.36 million downloads of his single, versus 1.24 million downloads sold by Daft Punk (who also collaborated with Williams, plus Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers) as of the end of September. "Get Lucky" also got a head start over "Blurred Lines" by a month, being released in April while Thicke's single hit charts in May.

Thicke's achievement might not last too long however. Avicii's "Wake Me Up!," which is currently in third in the U.K. for most downloads, is also the year's fastest selling single to date, having sold 980,000 downloads in just a few months.

Williams may have been the biggest winner, having appeared in both songs.

"I'm humbled by all of the love the UK fans have shown," he said. "But, when you are working with incredible talent like The Robots and Robin, great things are bound to happen!"

The sales total is also somewhat impressive because two of the largest universities in the U.K., Leeds University and the University of Edinburgh, due to its lyrical content.
