The Jesus And Mary Chain Chain got alt-fans all excited when it reformed for a brief U.S. tour during 2012. Could new music be far behind? Alas, still no word on a new album from the seminal Scottish band, but hardcore fans will be able to get all of the group's recordings, remastered and on vinyl, at the end of 2013.

As mentioned by NME, remastered releases have happened before, including the vinyl version of debut album Psychocandy at Record Store Day in April. This compilation, The Complete Vinyl Collection, will feature 11 discs. As fans know, the band only released six albums of original material between 1985 and 1998, so this features some add-ons.

Also included are two discs containing the entirety of the Chain's BBC sessions, also remastered from the original tapes. The 1992-'95 Live in Concert compilation will be produced on vinyl for the first time, and two additional discs will include a selection of B-sides that were voted on by fans for inclusion. A 32-page hardcover book will also be included.

Not only will this be the first time all these recordings are available together on vinyl, it will be the first time the band's discography has been collected as a whole in general. The question is, of course, whether this truly is the complete history of The Jesus And Mary Chain, or if there will ever be new music on the horizon.

"We have a bunch of new stuff," said vocalist Jim Reid to Whopperjaw. "There's been this album that everyone has talked about. We want to do it but I guess everyone knows what it's like between my brother and myself. We disagree about where and how to record the album and what songs should be on the album. Now, we seem to be on the same wavelength to some degree. It's looking more likely now that there will be an album."
