Here's an interesting vinyl release that collectors and otherwise fans of eccentric music will be excited to get their hands on: Dais Records will be rereleasing author William Burroughs' experimental "tape experiments" album Nothing Here Now But The Recordings during January.

The original collection was released during 1981 as the final album from iconic Industrial Records. Industrial was run primarily by Genesis P-Orridge, the founding member of industrial music icons Throbbing Gristle. P-Orridge and fellow Gristle member Sleazy (Peter Christopherson) became friends with Burroughs via a classified advertisement, according to Resident Advisor. The pair were aware that the member of the beat generation had conducted experimental recordings using the cut-up technique, where text is sliced up and rearranged to make less logical prose. Burroughs had done said experiments during the '50s and '60s but it was only rereleased after some mastering from P-Orridge and company.

Although Industrial Records isn't back in action, P-Orridge has worked with Dais Recordings for rereleases of his former acts such as COUM Transmissions and Psychic TV. Burroughs did plenty of work in the recording industry, and not necessarily with the most abstract of performers. He's collaborated with everyone from Philip Glass to hip-hop group the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy.
