U2 has revealed its first song in three years, "Ordinary Love," in the trailer for the Nelson Mandela biopic, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. The film centers on the former South African leader played by Idris Elba.

The song was written specifically for the movie. At about the 1:14 mark of the trailer, the bleak sound of piano builds as Bono begins to sing, "The sea wants to kiss the golden shore / The sunlight warms your skin / All the beauty that's been lost before / Wants to find us again."

According to Rolling Stone, U2 bassist Adam Clayton said the band has 12 new tracks that they will feature on an upcoming album, the follow up to 2009's No Line on the Horizon.

"I think it's a bit of a return to U2 of old, but with the maturity, if you like, of the U2 of the last 10 years. It's a combination of those two things and it's a really interesting hybrid," Clayton told them. "We're in the studio. We're trying to get these 12 songs absolutely right and get them finished by the end of November, and then we can kind of enjoy Christmas."

Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, based on the 1994 autobiography of the same name, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and is due out Nov. 29.
