Psych-pop band Of Montreal have announced their next studio album Aureate Gloom (that's the album cover up above), which will be their 13th overall and their first since 2013's country-flavored Lousy With Sylvianbriar. According to an interview with Stereogum, frontman Kevin Barnes said that the album was inspired by the "mid to late '70s music scene in New York," though if you were expecting punk, the disco-tinged lead single "Bassem Sabry" would beg to differ. The album is set for release on March 3 through Polyvinyl.

"I was going through a very stormy period in my life and felt like I was just completely trashed," Kevin Barnes said about the album in a press release (via Pitchfork). "I might be guilty of sharing or exposing too much of my private life, but to me the best albums are those that help people connect with an artist on a deep, human level and that do so without too much artifice or evasiveness."
