Neil Young has released two albums so far as part of his "Archive Performance Series," and his third installment will feature setlists from one of the rocker's most relevant stands during his career. Live at The Cellar Door will feature recordings accumulated from the six shows that Young performed at The Cellar Door in Washington D.C. during 1970.

The performer played two shows a night between November 30 and December 2 that year, mere months after releasing his all-time bestselling album, After The Gold Rush. As a result, those who purchase the new live album will be treated to much of the album's songs, including "Birds" and "Don't Let It Bring You Down." The concerts were Young's first dates in more than five months, and many believe they were "warm-ups" for his two-night stand at Carnegie Hall beginning on December 4.

Young took the shows a bit more seriously than mere practice however. His later hit, "The Needle and The Damage Done," opens with the line "I caught you knocking at my cellar door." The shows also featured some debuts of later Young classics. Live At The Cellar Door will include the debut live performances of "Old Man," "See The Sky About To Rain" and "Bad Fog of Loneliness." Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young had recently broken up for the first time, and Young incorporates a few of his contributions to the group into his sets as well.
