Colt Ford has never been a mainstream country artist, so to speak, but his brand of rap-country filtered its way into the No. 1 spot on the charts when Jason Aldean recorded Ford's "Dirt Road Anthem" in 2010. Since then, Ford has dropped three albums, but continued to plant his flag firmly in independent territory, radio be damned. Now, the 44-year-old has made the decision to release his first-ever live DVD to the public. The project, titled Crank It Up! Live at Wild Adventures, will feature a mix of older and newer tracks at one of Ford's recent Georgia show and it shows that he's not nearly as potty-mouthed as some claim!

"We've talked about it actually for a couple of years," Ford told Taste of Country. "It's just finding the right place, the right time, and all of it to come together. I've been really busy, but I just felt like with the new record, 'Thanks for Listening,' and all these new songs ... it's the first time, when I put this record out, a month before this came out I was already playing nine of these songs in my shows.

"That just doesn't happen very much. You know, before a record comes out, you play the first single and maybe the next one, but not the entire ... I'm playing more than half of this record live, and I was doing that a month before it came out, and it just felt like it was the right time to play from the beginning to where we're at now, play all of those different songs."

Some in the industry point to Ford as a foul-mouthed fool, but he doesn't think that claim holds water, especially as the father to three kids.

"I'm very aware of what I say, and it's funny to me - there's been almost like a fear for some people, and I'm like, 'Do you listen to some of the other songs that are out there?'" he said. "I'm like rated G compared to some of this stuff!"

Ford had a tongue-in-cheek response to the haters with this summer's "Dirty Side." Check it out:
