In a new twist this year, The Voice gave its season seven finalists the chance to record an original single and an accompanying music video. Last night (Dec. 15), in a performance-filled penultimate episode, finalist Matt McAndrew debuted his fresh track, "Wasted Love" to the amazement of his coach Adam Levine and those in the audience. And now, the official music video and studio recording are here.

The dramatic, heartbreaking ballad got a suitable dramatic music video. Shot in the expansive Hollywood hills, McAndrew performs in front of the beautiful city, singing straight to the camera and playing the piano. (Did we know he could do that?)

Between performance shots, flashes of what used to be between McAndrew and his "Wasted Love" flash on the screen. They play with ribbons, make out and even trade eyewear before things turn a little bit sour and his girl walks out on him, leaving McAndrew in distress... only to pour out his strong feelings in a choir-filled and piano led ballad.

But, it seems as though he and his "Wasted Love" will be forever wasted... tragic.

McAndrew is one of four finalists for The Voice season seven, against Craig Wayne Boyd, Damien and Chris Jamison. The winner of the show will be revealed tonight (Dec. 16) in a finale that will also feature performances from Ed Sheeran, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hozier, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars and more.
