Summer (and spring in warmer climes) tends to be the most popular season for music festivals, which is reasonable. It's warm. And most people want to be warm when they're at a music festival. Electronic music has been defying the trend for several years however, by pairing two likely hobbies, EDM and snowboarding, for cold weather fun. Snowbombing, an electronic music festival held at a ski resort in Mayrhofen, Austria, does just that. It was recently announced that British acts The Prodigy and the Chemical Brothers would be headlining the 2014 version of the event. The latter will perform a DJ set.

Alright, so technically it's not a "winter" festival; it'll be plenty warm by the time the music begins in April, but there will be snow. The festival's location in the middle of a forest also gives it a unique vibe.

There will be plenty of "modern" EDM to go around, but the Big Beat theme is exciting. Both Prodigy and the Chemical Brothers rose to prominence during the mid-'90s with smash albums such as Fat of The Land (a Music Times favorite) and Dig Your Own Hole, respectively.

Although no official schedule has been released as of yet, you can check out the full list of acts below.

Sub Focus, Breach, The Martinez Brothers, Nina Kraviz, and Skream as well as The Dub Pistols, Dense & Pika and there will be DJ sets from A-Skills, Ben & Lex, Breakage, Citizen, Daniel Avery, Hannah Wants, Huxley, Kove, Krafty Kuts, Kyntro, The Martinez Brothers, North Base, Radio Slave, Rattus Rattus, Roska, Route 94, Smash HiFi and The Heatwave.
