Earlier this fall, Crooked I (KXNG CROOKED) and Sway Calloway announced they were starting a new competition for aspiring rappers called One Shot. The show will follow Crooked I across the country as he travels to Charlotte, Atlanta, Miami, New York, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, and Los Angeles in the hopes of finding the next hip-hop up-and-comer. The winner of the competition will receive $100,000 — "no strings attached" — and a recording contract with SMH Records.

Since the competition was announced, other celebrities have signed on as guest judges including T.I., The Game, DJ Khaled, RZA, Twista, Tech N9Ne, Scarface, E-40, Charlamagne Tha God, Joell Ortiz, and DJ Drama.

Rappers from across the country have submitted their video entries to MyOneShot, and now it's time for them to try out in person.

The contestants will be gradually eliminated over the course of the weekend to a final four from their city. Those four contestants will then hit the studio with a group of celebrity producers including Jonathan Hay, Mike Smith, and King Tech to prepare for the main event. They will each face off in front of the judges to determine who will represent their city in the season finale. The winners from each city will gather in Las Vegas for the season finale show, where the top rapper will be named.

Crooked I, who was inspired by Eminem's "Lose Yourself" for the title of the series, said he came up with this idea as a way to give back to the culture that has given him so much and help those coming up in the game.

"I'm truly blessed by hip-hop," he said. "I believe in the pay-it-forward system. If you're getting something, you need to give something. In the nature of paying it forward, I thought to myself, 'What can I do for hip-hop to express my attitude for the culture and everything that it's given me.'"

He continued: "So one thing that I noticed was that everywhere I go, people always come up to me and say, 'Hey man, it would be an honor if I could spit for you. Just let me spit 16. And for years and years people have always done that. And I just sit there and listen to them, and I really wish them the best. Then they ask me how I can help them, and it's like you can't help everybody. It's impossible. So I started to find an idea that would help as many people as I could possibly help."
