Those who don't think politics belong on animated comedy television...probably hasn't watched animated comedy television recently. Shows such as South Park and The Simpsons have solidified their popularity with constant social commentary. Therefore it shouldn't bee too surprising that one of Adult Swim's programs is continuing the tradition. Black Dynamite, the animated version of the cult classic 2009 film of the same name, will air a one-hour special tying the '70s-set Blaxploitation-tation narrative into police discrimination and brutality. Tyler, The Creator and Erykah Badu have been tapped for guest roles, as well as comedian J.B. Smoove (from NME).

It won't be the first time that Black Dynamite has made light of political issues, especially those affecting the black community, but the length of "The Wizard of Watts" episode suggests the writer's want to place special emphasis on the subject.

"As a comedy writer, I feel it's my job to make people laugh while using constructive social criticism to evoke thought and inspire dialogue," said the director and co-writer Carl Jones.

The show, as with many on Adult Swim—Cartoon Network's late night programming block for more mature subject matter—frequently features musicians as guest vocalists and performers. Other stars that have made stops by Black Dynamite include Chance The Rapper, who appeared as Bob Marley during the last season, and Snoop Dogg, who played Leroy Van Nuys, a former pimp turned super-villain. Trust us...this makes more sense in the general context of the program.

Tyler, The Creator and his fellow Odd Future members also have a live action show of their own on the network, titled Loiter Squad
