Blink-182 have been discussing a new album for a while, but they're patiently waiting for the perfect time to make magic in the studio. Singer Tom DeLonge recently told NME the group still has little idea of what's going on.

"We've just started the conversation in the past couple of days of when/where and how to start recording," DeLonge said. "We've been kind of taking our time trying to figure out the best way to put the record out, you know. I think we just solved that puzzle a couple of weeks ago. I don't think we have anything to prove. I think we have to just try and go into it and try to make the best album of our career and create a situation that's really creative and conducive to that idea."

Fans will be excited to learn that the new tunes will stick to the band's signature sound.

"Blink is celebrated for its immediacy and its legacy and for its potential, but not in the realms of doing things that elevate it above the audience," DeLonge said. "It has to be something that's tangible and down to earth in a way."

DeLonge announced a new album would be coming back in October, and then said the group found financial backing November. But we hadn't heard anything else until now.

He did manage to get in a jab at Spotify and other streaming services around Thanksgiving, though.

"I tell people condoning streaming is like condoning the Chinese that are killing elephants for their tusks and carving ivory statues," he said. "It's cool to put on your shelf but if you really think about what you're doing it sucks."

This likely means that the group's new stuff won't be on Spotify/Pandora/YouTube, etc., but that won't necessarily be the case. Why? Most of their current discography has yet to be pulled off those services.
