M.I.A. was a guest and performed last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. With the help of The Roots, she played "Come Walk With Me" from her new album Matangi.

Released on Nov. 1 by her own label through Interscope, N.E.E.T., the artist's most recent record has spent a lot of time coming to fruition. Complications working with the label set the release date back by a while, but the seemingly carefree artist gave the crowd on set a great show highlight the album's promotion.

M.I.A.'s website for the record describes the album's character: "Matangi became known as a goddess of music and spoken word; she wasn't a warrior but rather a minister sometimes referred to as the Queen of Queens. She spoke truth to power by communicating from the heart, if we're not speaking from the heart our words are false and lack meaning."

During the interview, The Roots gave M.I.A. some privacy by turning around, showing their backs, as she shared the embarrassing story from when she first met them. For a woman who is known for being fashion forward and a style icon, it's a little refreshing to hear her talk about the kind of experience we've all had before--trying to be "cool."
