"Eminem Gay!?" Those are the words that flashed across the screen in a scene from Sony's The Interview, which is now available to stream online as well as view in the theaters. The Detroit rapper makes a cameo in the James Franco/Seth Rogen comedy in a scene where he is being interviewed by Franco's character Dave Skylark.

In the clip, Eminem talks about the fact that his lyrics are often inspired by fear. He drops some examples, including his misogynistic lyrics toward women, then slips in the fact that he writes homophobic lyrics and uses the f-word because he himself is gay.

This is all scripted and presumably just a joke in the film, but Marshall Mathers is convincing in the scene with his deadpan delivery.

"You know, when I say things about gay people or people think my lyrics are homophobic, it's because I'm gay," he says without blinking an eye.

When he is asked to confirm that statement again, he says, "I like men. I'm more shocked that people haven't figured it out yet. I've been playing gay peek-a-boo for years. I've pretty much been leaving bread crumb trail of gayness."

Skylark is then fed a question from Rogen's character about a line in Em's song "Medicine Ball" from his Relapse album.

"I said nice rectum, I had a vasectomy, Hector / So you can't get pregnant if I bisexually wreck ya."

Franco asks Em about the line, and the rapper confirms, "Hector's rectum was real."

The Interview has faced a lot of controversy in the past few weeks and almost wasn't released. After the Sony hacks, people believed that the hackers were working with North Korea, who claimed that if the film was released there would be a 9/11-style attack on theaters that showed it. The film involves a plot to kill North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, who is known for not being able to take a joke. Sony executives announced they would pull the movie, but days later they reversed their decision.
