Future is going back to hit roots for his latest mixtape Monster and its new music video for "Mad Luv." Today (Jan. 5), the Atlanta rapper released the official music video for his new single and he takes it back home to Atlanta for the clip, which features some of his old haunts painted new with opulence.

Playing into some standard hip-hop music video tropes, the music video for "Mad Luv" features money counting on some railroad tracks, trekking around the city in a black Bentley and plenty of drinking and drugs. It is a rap music video, after all.

But, there's an added layer to hometown loyalty and social consciousness, with Future paying tribute to Eric Garner by wearing an "I Can't Breathe" hoodie.

The music video also brings in some of Future's good friends, with "Mad Luv" featuring cameos from the likes of Mike Will Made It, Jeezy and Rae Strummend.

The clip isn't just about representing wealth and other hip-hop music video standards, Future thought it was important to pay tribute to Atlanta for the clip, as the city inspired his Monster mixtape.

"I wanted to go back to my roots before I start this journey of creating album music. So I came back to Atlanta, Lil Mexico-Kirkwood-to be specific, to shoot 'Mad Luv'," Future told The Fader, which premiered the video.
