The late, great Lou Reed will be getting his due in book form. A biography of The Velvet Underground rocker is currently in the works for publishing company Little, Brown and Co. by Rolling Stone writer Anthony DeCurtis.

According to Billboard, Little, Brown announced that they had acquired DeCurtis' book on Thursday (Nov. 14) and will give fans "the inside story" about his life and music.

DeCurtis is a perfect fit to pen the Reed biography. The Rolling Stone critic has interviewed the rocker numerous times and written the liner notes for a Velvet Underground anthology.

The book has yet to receive an official title or tentative release date, though it's likely to debut next year.

Reed died on Oct. 27 at the age of 71 due to liver failure. He is best known for his solo work and efforts with legendary rock band The Velvet Underground, and wrote the classic tracks "Walk On The Wild Side," "I'm Waiting For The Man," "Heroin" and many others.

Following his death, a memorial service was held for Reed in New York City last week. Hundreds gathered near the Lincoln Center as Reed's music echoed through the park. Not only will his legacy live on through his music but also in biography. Countless musicians have also paid tribute to Reed since his passing, including Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, Pearl Jam and more who have incorporated Reed's songs into recent live sets.
