Few bands are as patterned with their releases as Dream Theater. The prog gods, who have been making music for 30 years, have fallen into a two-year album cycle as of late, with their most recent six albums dropping every odd year since 2003.

It should be noted that most bands don't make it to six albums, period, but DT is now working on No. 13.

Lead singer James LaBrie recently spoke with Simcoe about the group's new project, and fans can likely expect another album by the end of 2015. According to the story, Dream Theater will head into the studio next month and hopefully drop the album sometime in the fall.

LaBrie wasn't quoted much, but he did offer some insight concerning his listening habits.

"If you're one dimensional, that just limits you," he said. "How could you possibly be eclectic ... if you just listened to metal? It's crucial to my development (to have different tastes)."

Back in June, he told Hangar 19 that, even though DT has a very reliable album cycle, "touring is [their] biggest promotional tool" and the best way to connect with fans.

"I still think one of the most powerful tools for the band is the fact that we do tour like we do and that we have an incredible fan base worldwide and we go get the support from various means, like what I'm doing right here [referring to the interview] and magazines and the Internet and word of mouth," LaBrie said.

Dream Theater spent much of 2014 on the road, with visits to North America, South America, Europe, Asia and the Pacific Rim, and Australia.

All of that was in support of 2013's Dream Theater, which featured "The Looking Glass."
