Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum hit the red carpet for the People's Choice Awards Wednesday, Jan. 7, with the rest of the group. Unfortunately for the singer, he had to deal with a bit of a wardrobe malfunction. Kelley split his expensive pants before the ceremony, later joking about it during a pre-show interview.

The musician managed to rip a sizable hole in his Dolce & Gabbana pants by simply sitting down in a car. E!'s Giuliana Rancic noticed the rip, Taste of Country notes, and proceeded to ask Kelley about it.

"Is it true you have a hole in your pants?" she says in the video below as Hilary Scott and Dave Haywood laugh about the whole situation.

"It might be a little racy for TV," Kelley responds, showing off the tear. "This is when you know your pants are too tight — when you sit in a car and your pants go 'rip.'"

Lady A scored the Favorite Country Group honor at the show. They also performed "Freestyle" from their latest effort 747.

The trio dropped its sixth studio album in September. It went to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Top Country Albums lists behind the massive hit "Bartender."

"The songwriting is really beautiful here ... you have the lead single 'Bartender,' which admittedly is about drinking but it's more about forgetting the pain of yesterday," Carolyn Menyes wrote for Music Times's Junk Mail review. "And maybe I'm slightly homesick, but the theme of always going back to your roots to rediscover yourself in 'Down South' really struck me ... and I'm definitely a Northerner. 'Damn You Seventeen' has a similar reflective tone that I can really connect to."
