Gallows has announced it will be releasing a new album on April 13 and nationalist fans of the British hardcore band might be concerned to know that the subject matter could be becoming more and more North American. The title, Desolation Sounds, which is named after a body of water in Canadian vocalist Wade MacNeil's homeland, and not the actual sound of desolation.

In actuality, fans of punk should be more concerned that the band is getting away from that sound if not its British roots. Guitarist Laurent Barnard told NME that first single "Bonfire Season" began as and ode to British goth-rock queen Siouxsie Sioux, and indeed the nearly five minute track combines the creeping elements of The Banshees sound with more heavy metal elements (you can check the video out at the bottom of the page...it starts with goth imagery and quickly decades to bondage).

"I've always been a fan of that slightly gothic, dark style of punk and felt it was the time for Gallows to explore that style of music. The verses still have that old school boot stomp feel but combined with atmospheric noises providing menacing undertones," he said, referring to Desolation Sounds as "the record I've dreamt about making."

It will be the band's first release since its self-titled drop during 2012.

For now the band has released three tour dates for 2015—May 22 at the Glasgow Cathouse, May 26 at the London Garage and May 27 at Manchester's Sound Control. If we recall correctly, the band hasn't been back to the United States since 2012 either so keep an eye out for a visit in the latter half of the year.
