Incase people were trying to convince you that music videos were dead — following Bob Dylan's interactive "Like A Rolling Stone" video and Arcade Fire's interactive "Reflektor" video — Pharrell has wagered that someone out there might have the time to watch a music video for a full day. He just released what is being called "the world's first 24-hour music video." The video is for the song "Happy," which is featured on the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack.
The video for "Happy" features 24 hours of footage of people dancing. The player allows you to move around to different time points in the video so you can share your favorite moments via Facebook and Twitter. Look out for cameos from Tyler the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, Jamie Foxx, Magic Johnson, Kelly Osbourne, Steve Carrell and more. You can watch it here at 24hoursofhappy.com.
We'll give Pharrell this: it's hard to watch these strangers dance and not get a warm, happy feeling inside — a nice pick-me-up for a Friday morning. Plus we are surprised to say that the song doesn't even get old. But we have to admit we are only 10 minutes in.
