Justin Bieber has mostly kept things low key in his Music Mondays single series, rarely venturing above mid-tempo territory for his new adult music. Now, the teen idol has released the eighth song for the project: the bouncy "Rollercoaster," and things get a little funky.

Initially teased back in October with an Instagram video, this song brings in old school disco influences with a song that rolls down and up much like the "Rollercoaster" that is both his life and the title of this song. There are musical dips that take you downward followed by rises in both instrumentation notes and volume. This track is literally the ride that Bieber is (metaphorically) singing about.

Like a speedy amusement park ride, "Rollercoaster" is the most upbeat track from Music Mondays to date and features the most rounded bout of instrumentation. There's the deep, grooving bassline, some '90s R&B-inspired guitars and beats and a decent vocal showing from the pop sensation himself.

Though the lyrics have mostly taken the forefront of Music Mondays, the words to this song are much easier to mask than any of the other offerings, due to its total dance-ability. How can you focus on a break up anthem when the music is just so damn funky?

Alas, though, Bieber has returned to the world of heartache after putting you down to bed last week with "PYD." As usual, for the music journals component of this project, Bieber described the meaning of "Rollercoaster" on his official website. "Just like in life, relationships have ups and downs. Working on this song I really was trying to capture that feeling. Sometimes things are going so well and you are just happy, other times things drop down and you are upset or heartbroken. That change can happen so fast, but it's a part of life. You just always have to remember that even when things feel like they are at a low point, you will make it back up again. That's what relationships -- and life -- are all about. -JB," he wrote.
