Bono, The Edge and Chris Martin teamed up over the weekend at the (RED) auction at Sothebby's in New York City. Before the auction took place, Bono and The Edge put on a jam session and covered Daft Punk's song of the summer "Get Lucky" with Nile Rogers and his band, Chic, with Angelique Kidjo.

During the auction, Bono and Coldplay's Chris Martin took on a cover of Lou Reed's "Perfect Day" and U2's "Beautiful Day." The Edge and Rogers joined them for a cover of David Bowie's "Let's Dance."

Everyone on stage appeared to be having blast. The performances were a bit sloppy, and seemed more like a karaoke session than anything else. But, hey, it looked fun, so we'll spare them the technical critique.

According to AtU2.com, the event was a joint effort between Bono and designers Jony Ive (Apple) and Marc Newson to raise money for the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in Africa.
