Billy Joel announced that he will hold a press conference at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 3 where he will reveal an "exclusive and historic announcement." No one seems to know what the news will be, and Joel and MSG are keeping their mouths shut. Fuse, the MSG Network and BillyJoel.com will broadcast the announcement live that day.

Tickets have already been sold for Joel's concerts at MSG for 2014. He's playing one show a month, starting Jan. 27, then Feb. 3, March 21 and April 18. It isn't clear why he spread out the shows so much. Perhaps the exclusive news has something to do with more tour dates. But more tour dates doesn't exactly seem "historic." Although, he is a legend in New York.

Joel did tell Rolling Stone in April, "I got tired of doing the greatest hits set," he said. "If I was going to play again in places like New York, I would probably feature entire albums. It would give me a chance to do songs we haven't played. . . We'd do one album and then play some obscurities. I enjoy playing those more than I enjoy playing the hits."

Joel could be announcing a year-long-run one of his 12 albums each month. Who even knows, though. The "historic" part is what's making this difficult to predict. It could be so many things, or it could be not that big of a deal and the choice of words was just a bit strong. But a live broadcast of the press conference does make this seem like something worth paying attention to come Tuesday.
