Fanfarlo has announced their third full-length album Let's Go Extinct will be released February 11th, 2014, under the British blues label, Blue Horizon. It's a little bit of a wait so the London-based band has put out a sneak peek trailer.

They themselves describe the video: "in its own ritualistic space-seed way, will give you insight into the record in much more exciting ways than words can." Sometimes seeing is easier than describing. Fanfarlo has been dubbed "indie pop," but their sound isn't always fit for a neat label.

The new songs are part of a larger concept album about human evolution and "possible futures," yet even one step more "entertaining" than that sounds. A press release goes into more detail of its sound:

In its newfound openness, the record takes in the 50s electronic experimentations of Raymond Scott, Shadow Morton rockabilly filtered through Suicide, West Coast sacred cows Brian Wilson and Fleetwood Mac, a little Krautrock here, a spaghetti western flourish there, a blast of Young Americans soul all the way over there.

Amid these influences, it ends up being "gorgeous, grade-A pop music" that's entirely their own. The band has replaced drummer Amos Memon with Valentina Magaletti. Other band members include Cathy Lucas (keys and violin), Leon Beckenham (keys and trumpet) and Justin Finch (bass). The release continues:

The songs on this record are expressed in such an irresistible palette of color and form that you could thrill to them without ever unpicking its various Gordian knots and discovering the hidden joys within.

If the album is anywhere near as poetic and engaging as the description of the album, we are all ears. In the meantime, let's take a look at the preview.
