DMV rapper and proud Washington, D.C., representative Wale is looking to spice things up with his hometown basketball team the Washington Wizards. In a recent piece set to be published in ESPN Magazine's upcoming music issue Feb. 2, Olubowale Victor Akintimehin — known professionally as Wale — spoke on what he thinks the issue is with the Wizards right now and what he plans on doing to fix the problems of attendance and a general stale atmosphere surrounding the team. Recognizing this, the Wizards have brought on Wale to be a "creative consultant" to bring back fun to the Verizon Center. One of his first moves has been to call up fashion guru Kanye West to try and redesign the current team uniforms.

The uniforms of 2014-15 are actually pretty nice and look better then some of the past renditions that included a rather ugly gold jersey, an orange Bullets throwback and variations of red, white and blue tops.

New jerseys, like new logos, always build new hype, but unless they are a huge improvement, it might be a waste. The team has a 29-14 record this season and has an exciting core of young players led by electrifying point guard John Wall. Either way, attaching his and Kanye West's name to the team name will be great for generating buzz for the team ... like what we are doing right now with this article.

Wale explained his reasoning for taking on the role:

"I want to be a shot in the arm to DC basketball. My job is to provide a spark, at all costs ... I want to see The Phone Booth rocking every time I come here." He added, "Now we have a team to be proud of. And even if you're coming to a game for the wrong reasons, like trying to win a pair of shoes or something, I want you into it. We want to sell this place out."
