Jack White did more than just play songs from his old bands during his concert Wednesday in Nashville: He also brought out The Raconteurs and later played with buddy Loretta Lynn as well.

Fans of the former White Stripes guitarist knows that he puts on a good show: He'll play a healthy helping of classics while busting out B-sides, covers and songs from from groups such as the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather. His show in Nashville, the city where he and Third Man Records call home, was bound to be a big affair and so it was.

White called The Raconteurs—Brendan Benson, Patrick Keeler and Jack Lawrence, the latter two otherwise members of the Greenhornes—onstage to perform "Steady As She Goes," the group's hit from 2006.

Lynn's appearance was especially special, not only because of the concert's location in the home of country music but also because of the acclaim she gathered for her last album Van Lear Rose, which White produced. The pair performed two songs together, opening with their acclaimed duet "Portland, Oregon" and then "Whispering Sea," one of Lynn's oldest tracks. According to the country star, she hadn't performed it in decades.

You know if someone's going to insist on a rarity, it's going to be Jack White. Or maybe Neil Young. White related his call to Lynn to request her attendance.

"I called Loretta up the other day, and I said 'Hello?' and she said (making his voice rougher), 'Hello.' I said, 'This is Jack White looking for Loretta Lynn.' She said, 'This is Loretta, baby. Did you like how I disguised my voice?'" he said. She replied onstage with a chuckle: "You're awful."

White will soon be heading toward New York for a show at Madison Square Garden and while we can't promise he'll bring the stars, we do know that Pandora will be live streaming the show. Whether that includes the opening set by Run The Jewels, we're not sure.

Here's some footage of the White/Lynn experience:
