Glen Campbell continues to battle his Alzheimer's disease, but he will certainly be represented properly at the 87th Academy Awards in February. Tim McGraw will sing Campbell's final single, "I'm Not Gonna Miss You," which is nominated for Best Original Song. The Rhinestone Cowboy wrote and recorded the tune for a documentary titled Glen Campbell...I'll Be Me that highlights his final tour in the wake of an unfortunate diagnosis.

"It's a cliché thing to say, but I'm just so happy to be nominated, for him and his family," the co-writer of the song, Julian Raymond, told Rolling Stone. "I feel just so happy that this whole thing is creating a brand-new legacy for him and getting some of those great old songs heard. As we joke, he's lived a thousand lifetimes. He's amazing in so many ways."

The Campbell family personally requested McGraw's involvement, citing the country star as one of Glen's favorite artists. "Tim is sure to being great emotional depth to the performance," the family said in a statement.

"I'm Not Gonna Miss You" will square off against "Glory" from Selma, "Everything is Awesome" from The Lego Movie, "Grateful" from Beyond the Lights and "Lost Stars" from Begin Again. The Academy Awards air Feb. 22 on ABC.

The documentary features interviews with a slew of admirers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"A gallery of famous faces testifies to his enduring musical legacy, including his frequent collaborator Jimmy Webb, Brad Paisley, Vince Gill, U2's The Edge, Bruce Springsteen and Bill ClintonSteve Martin, who early in his career worked as a writer for the singer's television variety show The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour, affectionately reminisces about his former boss' generosity and good spirits," the review read.

Campbell's last album, Ghosts on the Canvas, came out in 2011.
