If you watched the college football playoffs in January, chances are you heard Fall Out Boy's new single "Centuries" more times than you could count. That is because Fox blared the song at least a handful of times each game, with one Reddit user counting 45 uses between the Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl and National Championship.

Now, a month later, bassist Pete Wentz is acknowledging the band's overexposure.

"It's a little crazy to watch with your song in it," he told The Buzzer. "People are like, 'Hey, it's starting to get annoying.'"

When asked by the interviewer if he would apologize to fans, Went obliged.

"We realize it was to the point where it was getting under people's skin," he said. "We didn't really know that's how it was going to be ... 'cause obviously it was the first college playoffs and stuff. But at the same time, there's a lot of people who probably wouldn't have heard of our band who heard of it. Hopefully, we didn't annoy you too badly."

The song -- and the group's recent hit "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light 'Em Up)" -- is a notable departure from the group's mid-2000s sound that placed an emphasis on punk influences and guitars.

Now, they are going along with the dance trend that has been sweeping pop radio for the past few years.

"We'd survive without radio," Wentz said last month. "Batman can go out and fight without the f**king cape. But when he shows up, people want to see him wear the f**king cape. My mission statement has always been, 'I want to be the biggest.' Patrick [Stump]'s has always been, 'I want to be the best.' At some point, we realized they were two different versions of the same thing."

Here is the song he had to apologize for:
