When Robin Williams committed suicide in August, some speculated that settling his estate could easily become a messy situation, and sadly this week we are learning that a court battle has already begun. While Williams's third wife Susan Schneider's attorney, is hoping that things remain friendly, his three children believe she is purposely not following their father's carefully planned wishes and are ready to fight if necessary.

According to the Associated Press, "In papers filed in December in San Francisco Superior Court, Williams' wife, Susan, says some of the late actor's personal items were taken without her permission and asks the court to exclude the contents of the Tiburon home that she shared with Williams from the jewelry, memorabilia and other items Williams said the children should have.

"The children, Zachary, Zelda and Cody, counter that Susan Williams is 'adding insult to a terrible injury' by trying to change the trust agreement and rob them of the late actor's clothing and other personal items. The Williams children are heartbroken that Petitioner, Mr. Williams' wife of less than three years, has acted against his wishes by challenging the plans he so carefully made for his estate," attorneys for the children said in court papers.

Williams's children were supposed to receive his memorabilia and awards from working in the entertainment industry and Schneider gets to keep the home the couple shared and everything that was joint property acquired during their brief marriage.

She insists the items for the kids were kept in another home in Napa and that they have no reason to go through her property now. Apparently, jewelry and other items are at the root of the fight between Williams's family members.

Isn't it sad when settling an estate turns into an ugly battle? In this instance, Williams had enough money and assets to ensure that everyone will be taken care of, so it sounds like good ol' greed is starting to take root.
