James Murphy has been busy since disbanding LCD Soundsystem in 2011. This year alone, he has produced for Arcade Fire, remixed David Bowie's "Love is Lost," made a film with Ron Howard and created a signature espresso blend. He also debuted a new soundsystem called Despacio over the summer during vinyl-only DJ sets at Manchester International Festival.

According to Rolling Stone, the system is a circular array of eight 11-foot McIntosh speaker stacks designed with the help of David and Stephen Dewaele of 2ManyDJs and engineer John Klett. Murphy will showcase Despacio again in London later this month.

In his Rolling Stone interview, he also dropped hints about his future plans, including an LCD Soundsystem live album and the building of a new studio in New York, where he'll work on new material.

"The goal is for me to make music when I have my new studio," he told them. "That's what I want to do. I'm working on other things - I'm doing edits and mixing other people's music - but I'll work on original music that isn't classical music for a play. That's the idea. I've always gone to a new space to make a record, so this is like a new space. [But] the studio won't be done until at least June, so it's gonna be a minute. And I've also got projects that I'm working on through this spring - a couple film things, and I'm trying to do the subway turnstile thing, which is a really big project."

But don't expect a LCD Soundsystem reunion anytime soon. "[Those offers] get shot down before it ever gets to me," he told them.

According to Murphy, the live LCD Soundsystem album from their Madison Square Garden concert will come out sometime in early 2014. Although he thought it would've been out by this year, he said it all ended up taking longer than he expected. "I'm not really on a label anymore," he explained. "We had to do artwork, and I was away, and I had to get clearances for everything. It was a real comedy of errors. I finished mixing it over a year ago."
