It seems that last night was the night for surprise releases. After hearing about Beyoncé's new album, we got word of a new Lorde track called "No Better." Ending a monumental year for the New Zealand singer, "No Better" is now available a single on iTunes.

The song feels similar to other Pure Heroine material with heavy bass, down-tempo beats and crashing synth backing her soulful vocals and youthful lyrics. However, it does have more of an electronic sound than most of her other Pure Heroine tracks.

She reflects upon everyday life and the changing of the seasons singing, "Deep in the fantasies and dreams of the winter / Like the movies that we watch to pretended it wasn't winter... And you're no better at swimming than you were in the beginning / but you come over at night / and we practice all the breathing."

Lorde told Billboard recently that she's been writing new material and has plans to get back in the studio soon.
