Chance the Rapper has shared a new song "Lady Friend" ahead of The Social Experiment's upcoming album Surf, though it is unclear whether it will be featured on the album as it is not credited to Donnie Trumpet. The slow-burning, soulful love ballad features vocals form Kiara Lanier and Kehlani and was released on Valentine's Day.

"Lady Friend" sees Chance paying tribute to an opposite gender, platonic friendship over warm piano and sax.

"I'm your buddy, I'm your little bro," he sings. "I'm a stuffed animal / I'm a cuddle not a dildo / I'm a love anecdote / Was I always taller than ya? / Will I always call ya back? / I'mma always wrongly answer / Always almost caught ya trap / Imaginary beneficiary been away for so long, Ben & Jerry friend / Few compliments and a tear wipe / I'm the best man you're not marrying / And you know they ask about you, 'What's up with your lady?' / I tell 'em, 'You're just, you're just, you're just gorgeous / You're just a lady friend, a lady friend."

Chance the Rapper's upcoming album with his band The Social Experiment, titled Surf, was slated for release in 2014, though it never ended up coming out. Save for a censored tracklist posted to Instagram and an interview with Billboard three months ago, the Chicago rapper remained mostly silent about the new project until the end of January, when he unveiled a teaser video starring supermodel Cara Delevingne.

Since then, he revealed details of the upcoming project to The Fader, clarifying that it isn't a Chance the Rapper album but rather a Social Experiment album, helmed by Donnie Trumpet.

No word yet on an official release, but for now check out "Lady Friend," and let us know what you think in the comments section!
