PBS series Blank on Blank recently shared a lost interview involving Velvet Underground mastermind Lou Reed. The singer threw shade at two famous bands -- The Doors and The Beatles -- revealing that he thought the former was "stupid" and the latter was "garbage." The lively chat took place in 1986 between him and music executive Joe Smith, Rolling Stone notes.

"When [bands] did try to get, in quotes, 'arty,' it was worse than stupid rock 'n' roll," he says in the video below. "What I mean by 'stupid,' I mean, like, the Doors.

"I never liked the Beatles," he added. "I thought they were garbage. If you say, 'Who did you like?' I liked nobody."

Reed went on to talk about classic Velvet Underground tunes like "Venus in Furs" and "Heroin" and society's reaction to both songs. The subject matter was from novels that the singer had read and wanted to bring into rock music.

"What I wanted to do [was] write rock & roll that you could listen to as you got older, and it wouldn't lose anything," he said. "It would be timeless, and the subject matter and the literacy of the lyrics."

The Blank on Blank series features lost or previously unpublished interviews from cultural icons. Wayne Coyne, Jim Morrison and John Lennon have all been featured as well as Tupac Shakur, David Bowie and Robin Williams. Check out the entire series here.

Reed, who died in 2013, will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this April. The singer is already a part of the club as a member of Velvet Revolver. The group was inducted in 1996.
