Kid Cudi continues to expand his artistic profile beyond the realm of music. Increasingly recognized as an actor, Cudi -- real name Scott Mescudi -- is taking on a new role where he will be co-hosting the IFC improv show Comedy Bang! Bang! alongside Scott Aukerman, also the co-producer and director of Between Two Ferns.

Cudi will act as co-host and musical leader like Questlove on The Tonight Show starting July 10 on IFC.

"I can't wait to start this new chapter of Comedy Bang! Bang! with Kid Cudi," said Scott Aukerman. "When he was on the couch, I knew he had charisma and star quality, but I thought he should move slightly camera right. Plus, my wife and I have been trying to have a kid for several years, and this is the next best thing."

Reggie Watts acts as the current co-host and bandleader now, though he will be departing for the Late Late Show with James Corden March 23. Watts will do both gigs for another 20 episodes before leaving for good June 5 and then Cudi takes over a month later.

Cudi will be a couch guest tomorrow night, Feb. 20, and he slow jams with Reggie Watts in the show's companion web series Reggie Makes Music. You can watch a preview for his couch appearance and the jam with Reggie Watts below.

This will certainly eat up a lot of Mescudi's time, but he has assembled his original crew of producers that helped create the original Man on the Moon album to craft the third edition. No further details have emerged about the album, but fans hope to see it come out sometime soon and, hopefully, before he gets bogged down in other acting gigs.
