Fifty Shades of Grey is still kicking some serious butt at the box office in its second week of release. While the film did face some real drop off with ticket sales being down 70 percent over last week, the film is still easily going to land in the top spot this week. After grossing $102.7 million last week it still looks like it will take in at least another $25 million.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, "Fifty Shades grossed $7.8 million Friday for a projected $24.3 million weekend, pushing its domestic total to $131.2 million by the end of Oscar weekend. The movie's falloff is predictable, considering its record-breaking $85 million debut over Valentine's Day and Presidents Day weekend. (The Fault in Our Stars, another female-fueled property, likewise tumbled 70 percent in its second weekend.) explained the source.

It makes a lot of sense that the tale of Mr. Grey and his red room of pain wouldn't be pulling in as many movie-goers this week since it was such a niche film in the first place. Still, the numbers thus far make it a serious hit. Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson must be breathing a little easier now that they know that Fifty Shades of Grey actually worked onscreen. Sure, the chemistry might be a tad off, but Johnson has surprised viewers with her depth, and Dornan isn't exactly portraying the most warm and fuzzy character . Any indifference toward him can easily indicate that he played the role of Christian Grey quite well.
