Rich Homie Quan is in the process of putting together his debut album, and it sounds like he will be taking a break from the Rich Gang in order to complete it. The Atlanta rapper stopped by hometown radio station Hot 107.9 to talk about his new music and why he needs to concentrate on his solo effort. Quan dropped a new track with Young Thug recently, "Homie," that might be his last collaboration for a while, HotNewHipHop noted.

"I have been focusing more on myself, I've stepped away from Rich Gang a little bit just to get back to Quan. The people want Quan back," he said. "It's cool for the moment."

"It's been so long since I dropped a mixtape ... it's time for Atlanta and the world to know that Quan has improved and it's a new sound here," he added. "This new sound, honestly, I feel as if I had me a Grammy, bro."

Quan's last mixtape was a collaboration with Birdman and Thug titled Rich Gang: Tha Tour Pt. 1. The effort was released in September to mostly positive reviews.

"Rich Homie Quan's cold-soul verses and hooks ('War Ready,' 'I Know It,' 'Bullet') give the tape weight and substance, and Birdman's golden-toilet arrogance glazes it all in absurd luxury," Rolling Stone wrote, giving the album four out of five stars.

The rapper became a notable name in the genre in 2014. Quan was nominated for Best New Artist at the BET Awards -- he lost to August Alsina -- as well as Best Mixtape and Who Blew Up at the BET Hip Hop Awards. Wiz Khalifa's 28 Grams took the former and Iggy Azalea won the latter.

In January, the rapper revealed that Drake will appear on his upcoming album. The pair recorded a few tracks at Drizzy's house that will be included on the LP. No word on who else from the Young Money Cash Money family will appear on the effort.
