Spotify has announced a new update for its desktop app that will give users the option to show lyrics while they listen to songs using the streaming service. The new update will be rolled out in the next few weeks, implementing a simple "lyrics" button at the bottom right of the screen.

Spotify has partnered with crowd-sourcing lyrics service Musixmatch, which boasts the one of the largest music lyric libraries in the world. The new integration will no longer give fans the excuse to butcher the words to some of their favorite songs, as the words pop up on the screen in front of them.

The Swedish streaming giant has shared a short teaser of what the lyric feature will look like. It appears to be a pretty seamless integration with Musixmatch, overlaying the graphics and API of the lyric service onto Spotify's desktop app like you are at a karaoke bar.

In addition to having the lyrics at the user's disposal while playing a song, they will also be able to search for them in the explore feature, helping to solve the ever-present quandary of knowing the lyrics to a song, but the actual name of it.

There is no word on whether or not they will look to integrate this into the mobile app, but if this is successful within the desktop app, it would make sense to see further integration within the mobile environment.

The update does not begin and end with lyrics. In addition to the new vocal update, Spotify will be adding daily viral charts, giving users the opportunities to discover new music ever day. These can be separated out by world and region.
