Following Nirvana's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the city of Hoquiam, Washington has declared April 10th to be Nirvana Day. The city is part of Grays Harbor County and sits just four miles from Kurt Cobain's hometown of Aberdeen. Cobain lived in Hoquiam for a short period of time, enough for the city's major, Jack Durney, to declare that the band brought "great honor ... to the entire community."

"I think that it's good Kurt Cobain lived in Hoquiam for a little while," he said on KXRO. " But he and Krist Novoselic are part of our community, and I think it's good to honor our sons and their great accomplishment."

Nirvana has sold more than 25 million albums in the United States and more than 75 million worldwide. They will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on April 10 at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, NY, along with Kiss, Peter Gabriel, Cat Stevens and more.

Both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction and "Nirvana Day" will take place just five days following the 20th anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death.
