Big Machine's Scott Borchetta thinks voters for American Idol have chosen wisely so far this season. The record label head has been tapped as one of the mentors for Season 14, and last week he appeared on the show to gush over the contestants -- specifically Clark Beckham. Borchetta will be involved with tonight's March 11 episode as the crew heads back to Hollywood, Taste of Country noted.

"I think so far, America is really getting it right," he said, adding, "The ones that truly have an artistic vision are ones who have something to say, are hardworking, want to engage you in their life and their art ... Those are the ones that become iconic."

The Top 16 contestants will have the opportunity to work with Borchetta as they continue their journey in the competition. The singers up for elimination tonight include:

Adam Ezegelian
Alexis Gomez
Adanna Duru
Clark Beckham
Daniel Seavey
Jax
Joey Cook
Loren Lott
Maddie Walker
Mark Andrew
Nick Fradiani
Qaasim Middleton
Quentin Alexander
Rayvon Owen
Sarina-Joi Crowe
Tyanna Jones

Borchetta kept his personal favorites to win the competition to himself. Taste of Country asked him specifically about Beckham and Jax.

The record label executive said the key for Beckham, a former street performer, is to remember who his audience is now.

"With Clark, it's really understanding that he's not playing on Lower Broad," he said. "He's not a street performer. He has an opportunity to be in front of millions of people every week and work on his actual delivery because vocally [he is] one of the best."

For Jax, Borchetta advised that she keeps doing what she is doing.

"When you have somebody that's a little left of center, you've got to make sure that they're presented in a way people understand what it is. I think so far America has responded very well," he added. "So Jax is definitely a contender."
