The documentary on the life of vocal sensation Amy Winehouse, Amy, has gotten an official release date in the UK. The film will begin showing across the pond on July 3, which as The Hollywood Reporter notes, is a month before the fourth anniversary of the performer's death. A teaser poster was also released as part of the announcement, featuring a shoulder-level photograph of Winehouse from the side, showcasing one on of her many tattoos as well as her famous "Marilyn Monroe" piercing.

The film is understandably generating buzz in the UK, homeland of the late vocalist and six-time Grammy winner. However American fans may struggle to find viewing opportunities. Although Altitude will handle the release across the pond, no distributor has been announced for the United States as of yet.

Amy has looked promising since its 2013 announcement, based on the talent of the filmmakers involved. Director Asif Kapadia drew critical acclaim for his 2010 documentary Senna, on deceased Formula One driver Ayrton Senna. That film won two BAFTA awards while featuring somewhat similar thematic material.

Amy will feature archival footage of the performer, while incorporating new interviews and previously unheard music as well.

The Universal Music Group unveiled a short trailer for the documentary during its pre-Grammy brunch earlier this year.
