Pharrell Williams has been catching flak from the music world following the controversial "Blurred Lines" verdict, but he is receiving praise from fashionistas. This summer, Williams is set to receive the CFDA Fashion Icon Award.

As reported by Rap-Up, the 41-year-old musician will be honored at the 2015 CFDA Fashion Awards, which will be held at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall in New York City June 1.

Every year, the prestigious award is presented to an individual whose style has made a significant impact on global pop culture. Past honorees include Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Iman, Kate Moss and Johnny Depp.

Williams co-founded two clothing lines -- Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream Footwear -- and more recently inked a partnership with Adidas. He can also be seen in Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel campaign alongside model Cara Delevingne.

"If cool was a person, it would be Pharrell, not just for his looks and sense of style but for his kindness and openness. I cannot imagine anyone not seduced by him," said Diane von Furstenberg, president of the CFDA.

Williams offered up a humble response to news of the honor, tweeting, "Wow. Thank you!"

Aside from his accolades in the fashion world, the "Happy" singer is still dealing with the backlash of a recent verdict in the "Blurred Lines" trial.

The family of late soul singer Marvin Gaye sued Williams and collaborator Robin Thicke for similarities between the track and Gaye's 1977 hit "Got to Give It Up."

Back in September, depositions of the trial were exposed, with Thicke claiming Williams "wrote the whole thing pretty much by himself." Nonetheless, a jury ultimately decided to award the family about $7.3 million.

There were reports that the Gayes had also pointed out similarities between Pharrell Williams's mega hit "Happy" and 1966's "Ain't That Peculiar."
