A new album from electronic indie darling Grimes may see the light of day as soon as September. The "Oblivion" musician took to her official Twitter account on Tuesday, Jan. 7, claiming that her sophomore effort would be released on Sept. 9.

Or at least that's what she thinks. A representative for Grimes told Pitchfork that a solid release date for the follow-up to 2012's Visions has not been set.

Little is known about Grimes' new album, but in the past she has hinted at a totally new direction. In a 2012 interview with MTV Hive, Grimes commented that she was looking to go a little darker than her airy, pop-friendly freshman album.

"I've been working on more percussive noise music and also a lot of straight vocal music. I want to make [both] dark percussive shit and vocal ranging and release an album that's halfway between ethereal reggaeton and industrial dance music but is still very pop in its song [structures]," she said.

Regardless, Grimes (real name Claire Boucher) is hard at work in the studio on her second album, after recently joining the likes of Rihanna, Haim and The Ting-Tings with a management deal at Jay Z's Roc Nation.

In addition to a new album (and possible summer release date), Grimes also expressed her desire to tour on Twitter, responding to multiple fans who asked her to come to their town with an enthusiastic "I'd love to" and variations on the phrase.
