The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards—otherwise known as the most relevant of all Awards Season events—went down on Saturday night, with host Nick Jonas serving as the biggest winner (from Billboard).
The performer took home "just" one trophy—for Favorite Male Singer—but also got a boatload of publicity in his role as the emcee for the night. He walked the line by taking comedic advantage of Zayn Malik's recent leaving from One Direction, joking about future splits leading to acts such as "Three Seconds of Summer" and his own "The Jonas Brother." He also got a two song set, performing hit "Jealous" and "Chains," featuring aerial performers, 3D technology and Unlocking The Truth as his backing band.
He, like many others before him, would ultimately fall victim to the same fate: sliming. It came when Jonas went up to accept his trophy from presenter Jennifer Lopez. The pop star told him that "you deserve this...and so much more" (a phrase most men would kill to hear from Lopez), prompting the blimp above him to drop a payload of green goop upon the performer.
Other music winners included One Direction for Favorite Group, while Fifth Harmony pulled an upset and took Favorite New Artist over 5 Seconds of Summer.
Things only got worse for the Australian boy band as it too fell victim to a slime attack after performing "What I Like About You." As they say: When it slimes, it pours.
Iggy Azalea and Jennifer Hudson, Shawn Mendes and Nick Cannon were among the other performers to deliver musical numbers (Mendes took a dose of slime while Cannon laughed gleefully. You'll get yours, Nick Cannon, you'll get yours...)
