A$AP Rocky has quite a bit going on these days. With a recent announcement of his sophomore album title At.Long.Last.A$AP, the Harlem rapper is now featured on the cover of Complex for the magazine's April/May issue. In a cover story interview with Complex, Rocky shared why he stayed out of the spotlight and his thoughts on women like supermodel Chanel Iman and his new album.

The At.Long.Last.A$AP rapper told Complex that he stayed out of the spotlight to master his craft.

"I needed time to master my craft. You don't rush art, and I don't think you quickly produce fine art," he told Complex. "You take your time. That's not an excuse, or me trying to justify [any delays], that's truly what I believe. I took time off and learned how to act, learned how to make beats and do production."

In terms of developing his craft, Rocky shared with Complex that women serve as an inspiration for his music. One woman in particular, supermodel Chanel Iman, seemed to have a great impact on the rapper. In an interview with MTV, via Global Grind, Rocky opened up about feeling depressed post-breakup.

"I got really depressed [when] me and Chanel broke up in June. I got really depressed because I knew that she deserves better than me," Rocky told MTV. "That's the truth and everybody knows it. And I don't wanna be the guy to Lauryn Hill her, if you know what I'm saying. I love her so much so that I would rather [fall back] than to be with her and hurt her. I don't want to hurt her ..."

Regarding his music, Rocky believes there is truly never enough time despite his efforts to give his craft the time it deserves.

He told Complex, "No matter what, it's never enough time. You're always gonna say, 'Wait, give me two more seconds. Let me get a couple more minutes.' When you're a perfectionist and trying to craft a really dope piece of art, s**t ..."

At.Long.Last.A$AP is the follow-up to Rocky's first album Long.Live.A$AP, released in 2013.
