While we have been hearing all sorts of rumors of chaos behind the scenes at ABC's The View and various names being floated as possible new co hosts for the round table chatfest, nothing has been solid. Supposedly the network loves Raven-Symone and were thrilled with her recent stint as a fill-in host. Mario Cantone is also a frequent guest that could feasibly be promoted to a regular member of the panel but when asked about the possibility he always seems a bit skittish. One person that won't be returning to the fold is Jenny McCarthy.

She and her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, had a live interview with Howard Stern earlier today and in it we learned that The View actually did want her back!

"She's very gracious about The View and I told her the day that she left, I said they're going to ask you back within six months," said the 45-year-old New Kid on the Block. "She won't say it, but they did. Not officially, but they did." After staying mum, 42-year-old McCarthy finally came clean. "One of the producers called and said, would I ever consider it? And I said, 'No, thank you,'" she detailed. "Because I couldn't be me."

McCarthy said what everyone else is thinking: that the show truly is on its last legs. She believes that they may try to get one last season out of it before finally throwing in the towel. However after even Barbara Walters refused to return even temporarily because of all the drama, the network supposedly began contemplating maybe replacing The View with a fourth hour of the very successful Good Morning America instead.

Do you wish that McCarthy had agreed to return even temporarily? Do you think that she could have helped the show at this point or is it already past the point of repair? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
