Jeremy Brown, guitarist for The Wildabouts and frequent Scott Weiland collaborator, has died. The musician passed Monday, March 30, of causes that have yet to be determined. Brown, 34, was only a day away from seeing the release of his new album with Weiland, Blaster. The former Stone Temple Pilots singer announced the loss of his friend on Facebook, Rolling Stone reports.

Weiland said he and the band were concerned about Brown when the guitarist failed to show up for rehearsal for their album release gig.

"We received a call today about my friend Jeremy Brown that has shaken me to the core. We were all concerned this afternoon when Jeremy didn't show up for a long-scheduled rehearsal for tonight's album release show at School Night," he wrote. "An hour later, Jeremy's family called us to say that he had passed away. I am in shock right now; everyone that knows him is devastated. It is a terrible loss that goes beyond words. He is one of my best friends, a truest friend and one of the most gifted guitar players that I've ever known. A true genius."

Weiland and Brown struck up a partnership in 2008 for the singer's second solo album "Happy" in Galoshes. The guitarist became an important part of The Wildabouts, which also accompanied Weiland on his 2013 Purple to the Core Tour before putting together the Blaster album.

Weiland and the band cancelled the release show in Los Angeles out of respect for Brown.

"It's impossible to explain how much he will be missed and what a hole this will leave in our hearts," he added. "A post on Facebook feels so trite and small compared to the love that I have for him and for the talent that has passed on but I felt it was necessary to at least start here. Please keep his family in your thoughts."
